Adding Other Address Types to a Contact in ProLaw

Adding Other Address Types to a Contact in ProLaw

Managing multiple address types for your contacts can streamline your work and ensure the right information is applied to the right documents. This guide will walk you through how to add additional address types to a contact card in ProLaw. Follow these simple steps to ensure your address records are organized and accurately maintained.

Step 1: Avoid Adding Extra Information to the Mailing Address

While it may seem convenient, avoid cramming multiple address types into the main "Mailing" address card. This can lead to errors and confusion in your records. Keep your mailing address clear and specific.

Step 2: Use the Address Cascade

Locate the “address cascade” section on the contact card. Click the ‘Add’ button to create a new address entry. This ensures additional addresses are properly categorized within the system without affecting the primary mailing address.

Step 3: Choose an Address Type

When adding a new address, select the correct Address Type from the picklist options. ProLaw provides predefined categories such as Street, Alternate, and more. Assigning the correct type keeps your information accurately structured.

    Reminder –

The address marked with the “Mailing” checkbox will populate ProLaw-generated documents. Ensure this is the correct primary address for the contact.

Step 4: Add All Relevant Address Types

Repeat the process to include all necessary address types to the contact record. Categorizing and organizing addresses properly will enhance accessibility and reduce chances of miscommunication.

By maintaining well-structured contact records, you’ll have an easier time retrieving information, generating documents, and ensuring your data integrity.
